This is one of the first photo-realistic portraits I ever did. My friend Andrea was kind enough to model for the painting. I completed the picture for my mid-res show at CalArts.This is back in the day when I worked in oil and on canvas rather than wood. As a whole, I don't remember the show being that sophisticated... I had some prints and installation work in it as well.
Basically, it's painted in a social realist style and she's holding up a sign with a Mercedes symbol rather than a peace sign. Haha.
I have no idea where the painting is today. Someone at CalArts asked if he could put it in the Anarchist Bookfair somewhere in South Los Angeles. Well, when the Bookfair was over I never got it back. I don't remember making too much of a fuss about it anyway, so that's on me, I guess.
