2020 - Grace and Soup

This is a portrait I did of the daughter (Grace) of some friends of mine. Painting this dog (Soup) was a real pain but I think I pulled it off OK. The dog is large and very jumpy and I am, truly, terrified of it. I thought it kind of funny that I ended up spending so much time rendering its image. The work's main inspiration was a portrait my mother did a very long time ago (early 90s?) that I remember from childhood.
